Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) have become central topics in organisational development – yet addressing them professionally requires more than good intentions. The Diversity Train-the-Trainer Course prepares participants to design, deliver and facilitate diversity trainings that are reflective, methodologically sound and aligned with organisational realities.

Diversity in the workplace – a key issue of our time

Diversity is a social reality, but translating it into everyday organisational practice remains a complex challenge. Questions of equity, inclusion, power and belonging increasingly shape discussions in companies and public institutions. At the same time, diversity-related topics often trigger uncertainty, resistance or defensiveness – both among participants and facilitators.

Professional diversity training therefore requires a high level of methodological competence, self-reflection and didactic clarity. Trainers must be able to work with sensitive topics such as discrimination, harassment, racism or exclusion without moralising, oversimplifying or escalating conflict. This includes creating learning spaces in which participants can reflect on unconscious bias, structural inequality and their own roles within organisations.

Professional training for those who want to work with diversity

The modular Diversity Train-the-Trainer Course is designed for professionals who want to work as trainers, facilitators or internal multipliers on topics related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. Some participants address the full DEIB spectrum, while others focus on specific dimensions such as gender, disability, interculturality or social background.

In all cases, the course provides a solid professional foundation: research-based concepts, practical methodologies and didactic tools for designing sustainable diversity trainings. The focus lies on enabling participants to work responsibly, confidently and effectively with diversity-related topics in organisational and educational contexts.

Who should take this course?

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging are increasingly addressed within organisations not only through policies, but through learning processes, dialogue and cultural change initiatives. This course is designed for trainers and learning professionals who want to work with diversity-related topics in a structured, reflective and practice-oriented way, including:

Course Structure

A modular qualification pathway with maximum flexibility

The Diversity Train-the-Trainer Course follows a modular structure that allows participants to tailor their learning pathway to their professional situation and availability. The course consists of four subject-specific modules that cover the core competencies required for professional diversity trainers and facilitators. Participants who wish to obtain certification can subsequently complete an additional certification module. The modules are offered throughout the year.

At a glance

The modular structure ensures a balanced combination of theory, reflection and practical application. Participants receive comprehensive course materials and templates that can be directly applied in their own diversity training practice.

Flexibility in sequence and learning format

In the online course, modules can be completed in any order, allowing entry into the programme at any time. If participation in a scheduled module is not possible, it can be completed at a later date without additional fees.

Participants may choose between the online course format and the on-site Summer Academy in Tallinn, which follows a fixed sequence over two consecutive weeks.

The course is delivered in English. Modules in German may be offered on request, subject to availability.

Course material and learning resources

Participants receive comprehensive learning materials for each module, including structured readings, exercises and templates that support preparation, participation and follow-up. All participants also receive access to the Diversity Webinars learning platform, which provides a wide range of self-paced learning units related to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

The platform includes many hours of video-based learning material and is designed as a long-term resource that participants can continue to use beyond the duration of the course.

Feedback on your training practice

As part of the course, participants develop and present their own diversity training concepts in selected sessions. These presentations receive structured, practice-oriented feedback from both instructors and peers.

The focus lies on professional reflection, methodological clarity and further development of the individual training profile. Upon request, presentations can be recorded and made available to participants for personal review and continued development.

The online course combines live online learning with structured self-paced study and guided reflection. All four modules of the Diversity Train-the-Trainer Course are delivered through interactive online sessions, complemented by extensive learning material on our e-learning platform Diversity Webinars and a practice-oriented colloquium.

Live online sessions (main programme)

The main programme of the online course consists of four modules, each delivered through four live online sessions. Each session comprises four teaching units and is scheduled on a weekly basis. This results in a total of 16 live online sessions across the core programme.

Additional live sessions are offered separately for exam preparation and certification and are not included in this section.

Webinars for self-paced learning

A substantial part of the theoretical input is provided through self-paced learning units on our e-learning platform Diversity Webinars. Participants can work through the material flexibly according to their own schedule and revisit content throughout the course.

The platform includes a wide range of diversity-related topics and is continuously expanded, allowing participants to deepen their knowledge and stay up to date even beyond the duration of the programme.

Scope of the online course

Colloquium

Personal exchange and learning with peers are essential elements of professional diversity train-the-trainer development. For this reason, the online course includes a practice-oriented colloquium that brings together participants from the Diversity Train-the-Trainer Course and the parallel Intercultural Train-the-Trainer Course.

Since most theoretical input is delivered online, the colloquium focuses on practical exercises, peer exchange, facilitation skills and the further development of the individual trainer profile. The colloquium takes place independently of the modules and can be attended at any time after completion of the first module.

Participation in the colloquium is a prerequisite for certification by the DVWO.

Our Summer Academy offers a compact, on-site alternative to the online course and is held in Tallinn, Estonia. It is designed for participants who prefer an intensive learning environment and want to complete all four modules of the Diversity Train-the-Trainer Course within a short, clearly defined time frame.

Tallinn provides a particularly rich setting for diversity-related learning and reflection. As a city shaped by different historical, cultural and political influences, it offers many points of reference for exploring questions of inclusion, belonging, power and social cohesion in organisational and societal contexts.

The Summer Academy is open to English-speaking participants from different professional and cultural backgrounds. It combines in-depth training with intensive exchange, reflection and facilitated dialogue in a shared learning setting.

Structure of the Summer Academy

During the Summer Academy, all four modules of the Diversity Train-the-Trainer Course are conducted over two consecutive weeks. The programme follows a structured daily rhythm that allows for input, practice, discussion and reflection.

The Summer Academy is offered once per year as a dedicated on-site programme.

Dates and organisation

The Summer Academy takes place 20–31 July 2026 in Tallinn, Estonia.

Participants are expected to arrive the day before the programme starts. Teaching days begin in the morning and follow a full-day schedule. The weekend between the two weeks is free and can be used for individual study, reflection or informal exchange with fellow participants.

The course fee does not include travel and accommodation.

Certification after the Summer Academy

Participants of the Summer Academy are certified together with participants from the online course on several dates throughout the year. Certification therefore does not require a return to Tallinn.
